I am Beau Cook, and I established JB Cooks Roofing in 2009. When I was in high school, I needed money, so I started framing houses – meaning starting with nothing and building them from the ground up. I was always the youngest on the crew, so I was the one in the mud holes fixing the pipes. I learned from everyone and did a little of everything: electrical, plumbing, you name it. After four or five years doing that, I discovered remodeling and roofing held more opportunities, so with $1000 and a 10-year-old pickup I started my own company.

A lot of companies are in this business just to get the dollar and will tell customers anything to get a signature and a check. We truly care about people and try our best to help them, so our customer service is something I pride myself on. My cell phone is everywhere: it is on every business card, on the side of my truck, on shirts, hats, everything that has our name on it. That is because I want all problems to start and end with me – the buck truly stops here. If anything is messed up on a project, I consider it my fault whether I did it or not, and I make sure it has taken care of. We are not perfect by any means. We do make mistakes on occasion, but we fix them.

One of our biggest assets is how we work with customers and educate them on how to work with the insurance companies, and we also directly deal with the insurance companies ourselves. With 32 years of experience, I know how to get my customers the best deal from their insurance. And if I cannot fix something myself, my telephone can. I always know someone that can handle the problem. I am only as good as my team, and I take good care of them. I have known some of them almost 20 years, and they have all been with me a long time.
